Fill this in before you go. Your future self will thank you.

The single most effective thing you can do to improve your garden centre experience is arrive with a list. Not a vague idea. Not a mood. A list, with quantities, that you've thought through in terms of zone, light, season, and design role.

How to Use This Sheet

Fill in each plant you're planning to buy, the quantity you need (think in groups — minimum 3, ideally 5–9 for perennials), which zone/light/season box it ticks, and the design role it plays. If you can't fill in all columns for a plant, you need to do a little more research before you commit to it.

Final Thought

A garden is never finished. It's just in different stages of becoming. Be patient with it, be kind to yourself when plants don't work, and remember that every experienced gardener has killed more plants than a beginner has ever bought. The difference is they kept going.
